History and Mission:

 

The current Industrial Technology Center of Nagasaki (ITCN) was newly established in Omura city in October 1989, as a result of reorganization of two former Technology Centers in Sasebo city and Nagasaki city.

Its mission is to give technological support to industrial companies, mainly small and medium-size enterprises in Nagasaki Prefecture.

Our research activities cover a wide variety of academic area such as machining, mechatronics, electronics, information processing, industrial design, materials processing, food processing, biochemistry, marine technology, environmental science. ITCN aims to become an "open " and "reliable" center for prefectural residents.




 

Role:

  

ITCN's functions include not only (1) research and development, (2) testing and analyzing service upon request and (3) technical advice, but (4) training of engineers, (5) technical information service, (6) opening testing facilities to the public and (7)coordinating joint research projects among universities, companies and public institutes.

ITCN is located at the High-tech Park in Omura and has a 30,000 square meter campus.  The budget is about 400 million yen (not including personnel expenses) in 1998 fiscal year.  ITCN has presently 29 researchers, 8 non-tenured technicians, and 5 administrative officials.
